A one-time tax credit for first-time home buyers (and some buyers with a disability) in the year they buy a qualifying home.

Who qualifies

  • You (or your spouse) bought a qualifying home and did not live in another home you owned in the year of purchase or the previous 4 years.
  • People eligible for the Disability Tax Credit can claim it without being a first-time buyer.

How to apply

    Claim it the year you buy

    Claim the Home Buyers' Amount on line 31270 of your tax return for the year you bought the home. It can be split with a spouse.
